Lucy Star – Chapter five

Chapter five

The hollow tree

Page 28 and 29

Page 28 and 29 Sophia is cold and wet from the wind and rain. She shoves her hands deep into her jacket pocket and jumps as she suddenly feels something warm against her cold fingers... She pulls the matchbox out of her jacket pocket. The box is warm and glows against her cold hands! Carefully she pushes open the matchbox and through the small gap she spies inside three little insects crawling around in a fiery red glow. 'GLOWWORMS!' Sophia cries happily. 'I've captured glowworms!' and quickly she closes the matchbox before the glowworms can escape.

Chapter six following very soon…Hoofdstuk zes komt er snel aan…

The drawings for ‘Lucy Star’ are the original rough, mostly black and white, sketches that I drew a few years back for the three Lucky Lucifer Matches dummy books, scanned and coloured-in on the computer with Photoshop tools.
They are not the definite illustrations.

I chose to use this method for my stories, here on my weblog, to learn more about all the brushes, tools, paints and colouring palettes available in Photoshop, but at the same time to work on and to keep as close as possible to my original sketches.

I am really enjoying working on the scanned sketches and learning more about Photoshop on my computer.
No paper, paints, pencils, sharpeners or erasers in sight!
But most of all I’m loving working on all the original Lucky Lucifer sketches again, that have lain tucked away in a draw for far too long, breathing new life and extra colour into all the dear old drawings!
I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I am enjoying creating them!

  1. Happy little Sophia, but her parents will be frantic, and what about that brother who is supposed to be looking after her?

  2. Geweldig hoe het verhaal loopt! Spannend!!!

    1. Thank you Anna! Thank goodness I left poor Shophia nice and cosy on a bed of dried leaves as she will have to stay there a little bit longer still I am afraid as I am too busy at the moment to publish the next chapter! But Lucys story will be continued asap, as it’s all written and sketched, and I will let you all know when Chapter six is online! I hope you can all be patient for just a little bit longer! Sophia is safe and sound in her cosy hollow tree with the glowing Match box to keep her nice and warm! XXXX
