Lucy Star – Chapter four

Chapter four

Thunder and lightening

Page 24 and 25

Page 24 and 25 The children are meandering over the gravel path through the forest, looking for beetles, centipedes and everything creepy and crawly. After half an hour Peter's glass jar is full and he calls to Sophia to go back to the tent. Sophia doesn't answer. Peter looks under the bushes, behind the trees and keeps calling Sophia's name, but Sophia still doesn't answer. 'She must have gone back to the tent' Peter says hopefully and rubs at his grumbling tummy. He calls one more time, looks one more time into the forest, then turns and quickly runs along the gravel path, back to the camping.

But Sophia didn't go back. She's still wandering through the forest, looking for insects. She's only found three hairy beasts and popped them in the matchbox but she wants to find more insects! The gravel path becomes narrower and a strong wind begins to blow. The forest becomes darker and more threatening... Suddenly their is a flash of lightening and a deafening thunderclap. Heavy raindrops clatter against the leaves. Sophia is scared and runs further into the forest, until she stops by a hollow tree. Another flash of lightening and an even louder clap of thunder and Sophia quickly crawls inside the tree to shelter from the heavy storm that is now raging through the great forest.

The drawings for ‘Lucy Star’ are the original rough, mostly black and white, sketches that I drew a few years back for the three Lucky Lucifer Matches dummy books, scanned and coloured-in on the computer with Photoshop tools.
They are not the definite illustrations.

  1. Leuk om je werk te zien, kwam erop via linkedin, groep dutch illustrators. Zag ook tekeningen van Ilias, ik heb hem vroeger goed gekend.

    vriendelijke groet,
