Constructed!!

Ever since September 2000, when I was given my first computer, I’ve wanted my own website. I was very aware that having a website for recent publications, would be the way to approach clients in the future. Since August 2003, thanks to Mr.Fredlee, I’ve had a website address which had been ‘Under construction’ ever since, or in other words dormant until we could find –the- time- and –the- effort –to- figure- out- how- to –construct-a- website!

Last year I began reading the first lesson in ‘Adobe GoLive-Classroom in a book’ about how to design and construct your own website. I used the material included on the cd rom and spent a whole day on the computer, trying to draw a rectangular and fill it with coloured blocks. It looked like …nothing and I hadn’t a clue what I was doing or why! Needless to say I totally lost interest and the book and the cd rom stayed on the shelf for months gathering dust! Until a few weeks ago when Mr.Fredlee finally had the time and the patience to pore over the book, the network and pick everybody’s brain that had an inkling on the subject (thanks Ton and Herbert!) until he had at last figured out how to piece together a website with the Web Photo Gallery function in de new version of Photoshop, suitable for exhibiting illustrations and finally getting the site online and on the internet.
In the meantime I set about organising my illustrations and the categories that I wanted to display. Whilst sorting through drawers full of original illustrations I came across artwork that I hadn’t seen or had thought about in years! It was like rediscovering dear friends and renewing old acquaintanceships. Scanning some of this earlier work, enhancing them in Photoshop, lifting the watercolours, coloured pencils and yellowing paper back to their original hues and tints made them look just as fresh and up to date, on the computer screen, as twenty years ago! Various illustrations went through this rejuvenating process in Photoshop emerging revitalised. This was for me the most exciting part of compiling the website. It was wonderful to see how these renovated earlier illustrations stood their ground after all this time and, even before the website was officially opened, catching the eye of a prospective client. The end result is a comprehensive compilation of my old and new illustrations, published and unpublished since 1984.
I’m ‘online’ and kicking at: www.lindalee.nl
P.S.Thanks Mr.Fredlee for finally giving me my very own Website!
